  1. “We are not in the business of employing people!” said the Superintendent a year ago of the deep faculty cuts. It is in the relationships between teachers and students that education happens, though. Children who carry heartbreaking problems with them everywhere, including into the classroom, need more than 1/25 of a teacher’s time and attention. If we look at the number of positions that did not exist before the RSU was formed, including those added over the past year, consultants and the like, how many of them spend their day with children? How do the salaries of bureaucrats and wardens compare to educators?
